Calling all wildlife enthusiasts in northeast Washington

Conservation Northwest / Apr 24, 2017 / Wildlife Monitoring

We are currently looking for volunteers in northeast Washington to join the Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project 2017 field season with Conservation Northwest!

These volunteer positions involve setting up and monitoring sites in the Kettle Range on the Colville National Forest to monitor for rare Canada Lynx. Each volunteer will commit to joining a team that installs at least two wildlife cameras and revisits them on monthly intervals from May through September.

We will facilitate a mandatory training session on May 27th at Sherman Pass for new volunteers. The tentative time frame for this training is from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

In the training session, we will have a field component for wildlife camera site selection and introduce volunteers to the scientific components of our protocol, which helps maintain the high quality of our data.

Please note: you must be able to attend this training session in order to volunteer. Please ensure that you’re available before signing up.

There are many resources for you to peruse on our website and a Flickr page with our favorite photos from 2016 to get you excited about our program.

Please RSVP if you would like to attend the upcoming training, or reply directly to this email if:

A) You would like to add someone new to the list of volunteers.

B) You have any questions I can help answer.

C) You would like to be taken off our list of potential volunteers in the future.

More information on our training session will be sent out to our RSVP list soon.

Best,

Laurel Baum, Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project Coordinator
