Vanessa was raised in Georgia on legends and lore of the Appalachians. She is an alumna of The Evergreen State College with a Bachelor of Arts [2008] and MES with certificates in ArcGIS and Drone flight/mapping [2024]. When she is not working in restoration, mapping or wildlife monitoring, she sails around the Sound with her family on S/V Smitten.
