Enjoy this hike in northeast Washington as part of our “Exploring the Columbia Highlands” conservation hike series.
A family-friendly day hike great for kids and adults alike! From the cool, wet cedar forest around the trailhead, the trail climbs steadily up the glacially-carved, lush canyon, passing old growth Ponderosa pines and towering rock formations before dropping down to the calm, cooling waters of Emerald Lake. This is peak time for wildflowers, butterflies, and swimming. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Length: Approx. 6 miles
Difficulty: (3) Moderate
A carpool for this hike leaves Spokane at 8AM. Estimated return time to Spokane is approximately 6:30PM, and may vary depending on factors such as trail and road conditions, and the pace of hikers in the group. Upon registration, you’ll receive details about what to bring and where to meet. All of our hikes in the series are led by an experienced, volunteer hike leader and co-leader.
